From what I've- oh, am I not holding it right? I apologize- thank you. From what I've been told I'm no longer on Alternia. I'm not sure how much of a blessing I can call this but I'm sure I'll get used to this town. Being a completely different species, however, will take some adjusting.

[Another Alternian, and once again, he debates answering. It's gotten less and less awkward, at least, and if he makes contact first he can preempt any other discussion that might be uncomfortable for him. Dolorosa and Disciple have both been...really all right. So he is planning to speak when he picks up.

But then he says that name. There's no point for desperate thoughts about this being a fake, not when all of the older trolls so far have shared a blood color with one of them. But he doesn't think he can do this. He didn't think he could manage when Dolorosa came, when she called him the second signless and looked at him with so many expectations, when he glossed over the deaths of him friends and pretended not to know all her hopes for him were in vain.

He knows he can't deal with this. He can't stand the comparison. He can't stand the thought of his friends finding out what he was supposed to be, and taking a good look at what they got instead. He can't stand to think of how badly he's disappointed in himself. He doesn't hang up but there isn't anything to say. He isn't going to give the Signless a shitty insulting note about how to survive in Mayfield. Right, that's your legacy right there, a brat kid who swears at his friends so he can pretend he's accomplishing something. There's your hope for the species.

He just grips the audio hook tightly in his hand to muffle the sound of how panicked his breathing has gotten and hates and hates and hates.]

It's definitely not the feeling he got when he heard other trolls talking into this phone, while he regarded them curiously through the other side. Oh, but who is he kidding? One big thing he has not yet mastered about being human is emotional containment and having one big blow up of rage earlier is enough for him. [This... this is new for Fate. When she first arrived at Mayfield, her not!husband at the time had been out and about. She had been alone when she woke up! They had made their own arrangements so they didn't have to sleep together, but with Ples droned for some time now, the drone had been shooed out of the room each night.

It's not that she wasn't used to sharing a bed with someone. It's that she's never had to share her bed with a man before. So when she slowly begins awakening, and feels the presence of another person next to her, she nearly jumps out of bed.]

[She smelled him first. An unfamiliar, foreign male scent on the air stirred her from her sleep. From where Arf laid on the floor, blocking the bedroom door from being opened by the drone she chased out every night, she raised her head and scented the air.

The source was close by. Too close. Rising from the ground, the very large, orange Mid-Childan wolf turned her attention to the bed. Fate wasn't alone in it. Arf crept over to the bed on the side the male was on and drew her lips back in a silent snarl, revealing her fangs. Her hackles were up, but she didn't attack. She knew this had to be the replacement for the male drone, but she needed to make a point early on.

So, poised with her jaws less than a foot from the male's head, Arf waited for him to wake... and watched.]
